When it comes to cultural fashion moments, few accessories are as instantly recognizable as A$AP Rocky’s pearl glasses from his Rocky Rugahand era. So when acclaimed stylist Donna Lisa approached VidaKush to custom remake the iconic pearl frames for a new A$AP Rocky music video, the whole office was very excited.
As a small, women-led jewelry brand known for statement accessories and custom designs, being trusted with recreating such an unforgettable piece of hip-hop fashion history was both an honor and a challenge we were ready to take on.
Recreating an Icon: The Pearl Glasses Return
For Rocky’s latest visual rollout promoting his upcoming album and tour Don’t Be Dumb, the creative direction brought together every era of Rocky we know and love. The music video features multiple versions of the artist, celebrating the evolution of his style and artistry. The pearl glasses look—worn in the video by Tommy Revenge—was a direct nod to the Rocky Rugahand aesthetic that helped define a generation of experimental streetwear and high-fashion crossover moments.
Our task was to meticulously remake the classic pearl-embellished frames, ensuring they felt authentic to the original era while still translating seamlessly on camera. Every pearl placement, structural detail, and finish mattered. Custom jewelry design at this level requires not only craftsmanship but patience and trust.
The result? An accessory that once again became a focal point in a visual already packed with iconic energy.
The video itself has already surpassed 12 million views on YouTube and continues to climb, solidifying the impact of this creative revival.
We made the frames entirely out of pearls and diamonds, using teasers to perfectly complete the design. It was a true team effort from start to finish. Watch the evolution of the glasses being made below.
A Second Custom Pair for “Whiskey” with Tim Burton
As if that moment wasn’t surreal enough, we were then asked to create a second pair of custom pearl glasses for another Rocky visual collaboration—this time with legendary filmmaker and artist Tim Burton.
The video, titled “Whiskey,” blends animation and live action in true Burton fashion. Illustrated versions of Rocky’s characters—including the pearl-glasses persona—move through New York City in a dark, whimsical storyline. In one of the standout scenes, the real A$AP Rocky appears as a bartender pouring whiskey, wearing the second custom pair we created.
Seeing our work exist not only in live-action cinematography but also interpreted through Burton’s illustrated universe was a career-defining moment. The collaboration bridges music, fashion, art, and storytelling—exactly the type of multidimensional project we love being part of.

Both videos are stacked with unforgettable cameos from cultural heavyweights including Winona Ryder, Danny Elfman, Thundercat, A$AP Nast, the Williams Twins and Tim Burton himself. Each appearance adds another layer to an already visually rich project, amplifying the cinematic and cultural weight behind the album rollout.
