When the Grammy-nominated girl group KATSEYE hits the stage, every detail matters—right down to the rose petals falling from their fedoras. For their recent tour, we had the absolute honor of stepping into their world and helping bring some of their most infamous performance moments to life.

Born from the hit show Pop Star Academy, Katseye is one of the freshest girl groups in the game right now. Their rise has been fast, their fandom is intense, and their creative vision is crystal clear. So when celebrity stylist Katie Qian tapped us for a special performance piece, we knew we had to go all in.

For the song “Gabriela,” Lara and Megan wear fedoras as part of their look—and at a key moment in the performance, they toss rose petals from their hats. Romantic, dramatic, and very Katseye.

Katseye’s team brought us the bases, and from there, we did what we do best: transform them into stage-ready statement pieces.

To tie into their red skirts and the mood of the song, we:

• Added hand-placed crystals for that on-stage sparkle
• Attached in delicate filigree detailing to keep it elevated and feminine
• Used red crystal accents to echo their costuming and the rose petals
• Making Lara and Megans hats slightly different with sphere and piercing details.

Every element was designed to look beautiful up close and still catch the light from far away—because performance pieces have to work from the front row and the nosebleeds. We made doubles of each hat to ensure nothing happened for the duration the tour, especially since they catch some air on stage!

The real challenge? Making the hats functional without losing the aesthetic. Inside each hat, we sewed custom straps and created an almost “trap door” structure at the top interior.

This hidden compartment holds a stash of rose petals that can be released when they shake the hats mid-performance—so the petals spill out at just the right moment. No bulky hardware, no visible tricks, just a seamless reveal that feels like pure magic on stage. Check out this video they posted on their Instagram showing this exact moment HERE!
